Sample Answer
Absolutely! Banff National Park in Alberta is like my go-to spot for a nature escape. It’s this amazing piece of paradise in the Rockies that I can’t get enough of.
First off, the scenery is just mind-blowing. The lakes, like Lake Louise and Moraine Lake, have this unreal turquoise color that you have to see to believe. Surrounded by these massive snow-capped mountains, it’s like stepping into a postcard. And let me tell you, the hiking there is next level. Trails winding through wildflower meadows and up to panoramic viewpoints – it’s a nature lover’s dream.
What makes Banff so special and enjoyable for me is that it is quiet. I can just sit by the lakeshore, take in the view, and forget about everything else. It’s my go-to spot for recharging.
However, despite its natural splendour, Banff National Park is not without environmental concerns. The increasing number of visitors and recreational activities can put stress on the delicate ecosystems. There are efforts to manage and mitigate these impacts, including trail maintenance, waste management, and educational programs to raise awareness about responsible tourism.
I really like Banff, and I want it to stay amazing. So, when I go, I make sure to be careful and not mess things up. It’s like my special place, and I want other people to see how awesome it is too!

The person I want to talk about is my friend Sarah, who is currently studying at the local college. Sarah is passionate about environmental issues and, recognizing the importance of collective action, she has taken the initiative to form a group with like-minded friends to protect the environment.
Sarah and her friends at college have formed a group to help the environment. They organize clean-up events in our community where people come together to pick up trash. This helps keep our surroundings clean and stops harmful things from hurting plants and animals.
Additionally, Sarah’s group actively promotes recycling initiatives within the college campus, encouraging students and faculty to reduce their waste and adopt eco-friendly practices. They have also organized educational seminars and workshops to share information about the importance of preserving natural resources and the consequences of environmental degradation.
Sarah, being tech-savvy, creates awareness programs on platforms like Instagram and Facebook.
Through these social media campaigns, she shares tips on recycling, reducing waste, and why it’s crucial to take care of nature. It’s impressive how she uses the power of the internet to reach more people and make them aware of the importance of environmental conservation.
I really admire Sarah for her commitment to making a positive impact on the environment, and it inspires me to think about how I can contribute too.

IELTS Cue Card Environmental Problem
Describe the environmental problem in your city.
You should say:
- what type of problem it is
- why it is happening
- what are the effects of this problem
Sample Answer
In my city, we’re dealing with a big problem – our water isn’t as clean as it should be. You know, the rivers and lakes that we used to enjoy are getting all messed up. It’s because factories throw their waste into the water, and some folks don’t handle their trash the right way.
And why it is happening? Well, our city is growing fast, and these factories are growing too. They’re putting stuff into the water that makes it unsafe for us. Additionally, improper disposal practices by households and agricultural activities, such as the excessive use of fertilizers and pesticides, further add to the problem.
Now, the effects of this aren’t good. When we use this dirty water, it can make us sick. Imagine drinking water that’s not clean – it can give us stomach problems, and that’s no fun.
But it’s not just about us. The fish and other animals in the water are also having a tough time. The pollution messes up their homes, and some of them might not survive. And you know what? Our city’s beautiful rivers and lakes don’t look so nice anymore, and we can’t enjoy swimming or boating like we used to.
So, we really need to do something about it. People need to be more careful with what they throw away, and factories should stop putting bad stuff in the water. If we all work together, we can keep our water clean and safe for everyone.
